Support
the Atrek St. Louis Dance Collective There are so many ways that you can support us. Please read on for some options.
Shop at your favorite online stores and have a percentage of your purchase directly benefit aTrek without costing you, or us, a penny. Maatiam, our new partner in philanthropy, has partnered with more than 200 online retailers, including Amazon, eBay, Office Depot, Target, 1-800-Flowers, Macy's, Orbitz, Drugstore.com, Shoes.com and more. Maatiam donates up to 25% of your purchase price to ATREK at no additional cost to you or us. Maatiam could help us raise a significant amount of donation. If 500 people spend on average $1,000 online per year, we can raise $21,000! This would enable us to improve our programs. This is very easy, and there is no cost. Just go to http://atrekdance.maatiam.com, and shop among 200 biggest retailers, pay the same prices and get the same products and services. You can help us with just a few clicks. Or maybe you prefer to make a 100% tax deductible donation directly to ATREK. You can do that online using the box below, or you can send us a check the old fashioned way. This 50-minute, interactive lecture-demonstration and performance catalyzes children's capacity to grasp mathematical concepts by simultaneously stimulating their visual, auditory, AND kinesthetic input channels. "Moving through Math" is presented through Young Audiences of St. Louis. The success of "Moving Through Math" has encouraged aTrek to develop additional programs that serve school aged children and use dance to support traditional curriculum learning. We are currently seeking funding to create a program that uses dance to teach children about Physics, another that teaches Nutrition, and a third that teaches about African American dance, music and culture in the South America. Additionally, we seek funding to present our educational programs in under-funded and under-served communities who would otherwise not have the opportunity to experience professional dance programs. After School Dance - aTrek offers creative movement and curriculum related classes and residencies for youth through schools and community centers throughout the St. Louis region. Children experience the joy of creative movement, performance and learn to be good audiences. aTrek's residencies focus as much on developing young minds and bodies as on teaching dance. We promote movement and dance as a mode of healthy physical and artistic expression. We give children structured exercises to explore and expand their body awareness, build self-esteem and develop healthy body images, good posture and respect for others' bodies and modes of expression. Dance classes and workshops in these environments are well received and highly motivational. IMPULSE Dance Festival, is a two-week dance intensive designed for college students, adults and young professional dancers. Students participate in full day workshops taught by nationally recognized guest and local artists; attend a faculty showcase performance, guest lectures on topics relevant to a developing dance artist, and perform in a student showcase. IMPULSE is designed to develop technical, improvisational, choreographic and performance skills needed to be competitive in the professional dance community. IMPULSE 2 - we look forward to IMPULSE 2, a modern dance summer intensive for high school aged students in and around St. Louis. Community Dance Classes are an ongoing service that we provide. Some of our classes include Yoga, Beginning and Intermediate Dance for Adults and Pilates. Movement and Choreography Labs are designed to develop artists and new works for presentation by the aTrek Dance Collective concert series. These programs are open to the public and target not just aTrek but the larger pre-professional and professional dance community in St. Louis. The choreography labs will additionally serve select audience members by allowing them a unique opportunity to witness and participate in the review process, which contributes to the development of new artistic work. >----------- DONATE TO ATREK DIRECTLY ONLINE ----------< Support the Atrek St. Louis Dance Collective aTrek currently receives public funding from the Regional Arts Commission, Missouri Arts Council and the Arts & Education Council.
